Crossrail is a project of national importance and is the single most important scheme to increase transport capacity in the Capital. It will help underpin London's role as a leading world city and the centre of global finance. Services commence in 2017.
The funding package which gave the green light to Crossrail, was announced by the Government in October 2007. Funding includes contributions from Government, business and TfL borrowing on future fare income.
The Campaign for Crossrail is a broad coalition that demonstrates the support which exists for Crossrail and the benefits that it brings.
