Tourism & Leisure Industry
1.
James Bidwell - Chief Executive, Visit London
Visit London supports the Campaign for Crossrail because Crossrail will help maintain London as a sustainable global financial and visitor destination. It will also improve the quality of life of Londoners and visitors alike, helping to regenerate and re-new our great city. Given an early steer on funding and financing the global construction industry will naturally expand so that both the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games and Crossrail can be built as soon as possible.
2.
Michael Day - Chief Executive, Historic Royal Palaces
I support the Campaign for Crossrail because Crossrail will aid UK competitiveness, help ensure growth in the tourism sector, improve the quality of life in the capital and regenerate key parts of London.
3.
Mark Jones - Director, V&A
If London is to continue to grow and prosper, an efficient and effective transport system is essential. Crossrail will benefit both those who live and work in London and those who visit the capital from the UK and overseas. London must provide a world-class experience for visitors, and schemes such as Crossrail and the development of Exhibition Road will help to deliver that.
4.
Sir Keith Mills - Deputy Chairman, London 2012 (LOCOG)
Although Crossrail will sadly not be ready for the 2012 Games it is clearly an essential piece of the transport jigsaw that London badly needs. With the huge regeneration in East London around the Olympic Park already underway, the need for Crossrail is even greater. A direct link from East to West will ensure that London remains competitive in the world market and provides a better quality life for Londoners.
5.
David Orr - Chief Executive, City Inns
I support the Campaign for Crossrail because once built Crossrail help keep London and the UK competitive, aid growth in the UK economy, improve the quality of life in London and help regenerate deprived parts of the capital such as Whitechapel.
6.
Tim Scoble - CEO, Thistle Hotels plc
Good quality modern transport infrastructure is essential to continue to attract international businesses and tourists to the UK. London must provide a world-class experience for visitors, and Crossrail will help to deliver that. Improving transport links from the City of London to Heathrow will be beneficial to both tourists and business travellers alike.
7.
Sir Nicholas Serota - Director, Tate
In the globalised world, a strong transport infrastructure is essential if we are to continue to attract international business, tourists and students to London. Crossrail offers the opportunity for a dramatic improvement in movement across the city both for visitors and Londoners.
8.
Simon Vincent - Area President, Hilton UK & Ireland
In a globalised world, good quality modern transport infrastructure is essential to continue to attract international businesses and tourists to the UK. London must provide a world-class experience for visitors, and Crossrail will help to deliver that.
